Botox/Filler FAQ

Does it hurt?

Botox is injected with a very small needle and is relatively painless. We use a topical numbing cream with dermal fillers. The fillers also have lidocaine mixed with them, making them comfortable upon injection.

Can I bruise?

Anytime you are being injected, there is a chance of bruising occurring. We have a post injection serum that can be applied after. Also, stopping any blood thinners, like anti - inflammatories, aspirin, can aid in minimizing bruising.

Can I have any swelling?

Swelling is common after dermal fillers, for a few days. Applying ice to the affected area will minimize this.

How long does botox last?

Botox will last 3 - 4 months.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Different fillers will last different l engths of time. Juvederm, on average will last 1 year. Juvederm Voluma, on average will last 18 months to 2 years, and Juvederm Vollure and Volbella, on average last 15 months.

Can I have both botox and juvederm injected on the same day?

Yes

What should I not do after botox injections?

You should not lie flat for 4 hours post injection. We do not want you to rub or manipulate the injected area. Also, we recommend that you not exercise for 24 hours post injection.

What should I not do after dermal filler injections?

You should not apply makeup for 24 hours, to the injected area. You may cleanse your skin gently that evening.

How long does it take to notice the results of botox or fillers?

Botox takes 7 - 10 days to have it’s full effect. Dermal fillers are noticeable right away, however, some swelling could occur for a few days. A follow up appointment will be scheduled in 2 weeks to see the results of the injections.

Will I look “funny” after botox or filler injections?

The key to injections of both botox and fillers, is to look natural. Some swelling and/or bruising may occur for a few days after injection, but the ultimate goal is to look more refreshed and renewed! It is always easier to add more, than to take away!
